What Can I Expect When Getting a Crown?

There are three types of crowns to choose from: gold, porcelain, or porcelain fused to metal. The porcelain covered metal crowns prove to be most durable and are placed on back molars where the forces from chewing and grinding are most prevalent. After choosing the type of crown you would like, we will make an impression of your tooth and send it to a lab to create a custom fit crown precisely for you.

When you leave our office, after the first visit, you will have a temporary crown to wear, while your permanent crown is custom made. When it’s ready, you will come back in to have the crown permanently cemented in place, and you will go home with a very durable and reliable new natural looking tooth.
